After his resurrection, Jesus Christ told his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20, “…All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” This is the Great Commission.
It is the Father’s will that all should come to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:9). In Luke’s gospel (24:47), Jesus told His disciples “…repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” And Jesus further clarified the mission by declaring in Acts 1:8, “…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem [local], and in all Judea and Samaria [domestic], and even to the remotest part of the earth [international].”
Day by day we live out the command of Christ by preparing individuals to go locally, domestically, and internationally. Through the power and work of the Holy Spirit in us, we are compelled to share the amazing news of Jesus Christ in our neighborhood, our city, our country, and throughout every area of the world.
An important focus of our fellowship has been the raising up of individuals to fulfill God’s call on their life to serve in the ministry. Many have been trained and the result is they have sensed the leading of the Holy Spirit to start a pioneer work in other areas. Thus, some have started works domestically and internationally. Much like Paul and Barnabus in Acts 13, we are grateful to have been used by the Lord to send these workers out to Frazier Park and the Kern River Valley in California, Dewey, Arizona, as well as internationally to a Central American work in Roatan. A team from several Calvary Chapels goes south each month to serve the children at an orphanage in Mexico.
